So guys last weekend I did the Warrior Dash Mud Run. Check out the video for it at www.warriordash.com.
It was so warm here in Hoover and by the time we got to Kimberly the temp had dropped about 10 degrees and there was no sun. But we were still pumped. The race was so hard. There were balance, climbing, rope, crawling, swimming- pretty much any obstacle you can think of it was there. My favorites were the 1st mud pit where I tripped and fell head first into the mud. One of my small group leaders was already done and moving on and he saw it all and yelled,"Dive on in head first Kristen! Way to embrace the obstacle!" Then it was so wet and muddy and my shoes and no traction it was just a huge muddy hike. The roller coaster hills covered the majority of the course and they were tough. I also liked the rope bridge. Don't know why but I did. We had to crawl through foxholes and swim through the coldest pond I have ever been in. Just when I thought we were close to being down we had to army crawl through mud under barb wire. I told a friend doing the obstacle that that crawl was so exhausting I had a new respect for the military. Then 5 guys around me yelled,"Thanks ma'am." It was really cute. After climbing a huge cargo net and jumping over real fire I was done and got a medal. I am so proud of that medal. I worked so hard for it! If you ever get the chance to do a mud run I suggest you do it. It was a lot of fun. You will be sore beyond belief but its fun in a weird way.
Then the next day was Talladega. I woke up so sore I could barely walk but really wanted to see some friends from Charlotte. After almost taking out a tent from not watching where I was going, we went to the drivers meeting. I wasn't paying to much attention (draft carefully, don't race stupidly, be safe, etc) and checking my fantasy football when they welcomed some stars of one of my favorite shows -Duck Dynasty. (If you haven't seen it check it out because it is hilarious.). I was able to get a pic with Willie and my day was made. I put it up at the bottom.
I also got to see a good friend of mine Robert. He took pity on my soreness and offered to let me sit on his pit box but I couldn't climb up (I was pitiful!). Allison and I did take advantage of the tires he had already run on because they were warm from the track and we were cold!
Guess that's all for now. Hope it's a good day!

Weekend fun
We had a work birthday Friday and I was asked to bake cupcakes for it. I was inspired by my bestie Ashley after she made these adorable cupcakes for her son's 2nd birthday. All you do is divide the cake batter up in different bowls. Then put different food coloring in each bowl and layer a tablespoon or so of the batters in the cupcake tins. It comes out tie dyed! I was surprised at how easy it was and how great they looked!
Then Saturday was the Alabama Vs Ole Miss game. When did Ole Miss drop the black bear? Anyway I added that pic with my friend Allison. Highlight was seeing the legend Coach Stallings!

Botox
So as many of you know I have horrible migraines. I am right now (still) waiting in the doctor's office to get Botox as a preventative for them. I am quite excited as I have heard wonderful things about it and I won't have to take pills 2 or 3 times a day! Has anyone heard anything? Will keep y'all updated! :)

Lead me
Yesterday at work, a guy I work with mentioned his girlfriend was out of town. Then later, when it was time to go home, he said how he was in a rush because he had a date- obviously not with his girlfriend. How sad is it that this is the state of the "man" of the day. This reminded me of a call to action to the guys in a meeting I was at Sunday. The meeting was for leaders of small groups for my age group. A guy there noticed that there were more female leaders than male. While this is great for women leading women, in general it is not to good. Guys were meant to be leaders at home, at work, at church,in the family, in the government and we ladies should be there to support and encourage. Now I am not saying they are always right but we should be there to back them up always break them down. And in return they honor us with chivalry rather it be opening doors, taking out trash, listening to girlfriends or wives carrying up groceries or picking up chairs after a meeting. I really think if we as society got back to this basic and biblical principal we would see divorce rates go down and happier marriages maybe even some more "Camelot" years. Check out the song "Lead me" by Sanctus Real. It's maybe my new favorite.

Open face
So this is my new all time fav sammie. I got it from skinnytaste.com. It's basically a blt subbing the mayo for some avocado. OMG so good.
But it led me to this- how in the world are you supposed to eat an open face sandwich without getting your hands all messed up or the contents of it sandwich falling out or with out a fork and knife. Really people. Anyone have a solution.
Also, the bf broke some news to me yesterday that left me with an open face. I have told a few people. This open face news makes me want to cry all the time. Feel like a rug has been pulled out from under me and been punched in the lungs. So if anyone had any tips on that I'd appreciate those as well.
But try the sandwich. Tomatoes and avocados are in season so they are cheap!

"Running"
So after working my butt off at the gym before a beach trip, I obviously didn't want to lose all the work I had been doing and start all over when I got back (sidenote: been back a week and no gym gonna blame the migraine I HAD on that one - reason had is in caps is for another sit). My bestie Ashley and her hubs and cutie son had arrived a few days before us and had a ongoing convo about if this intricate mailbox design was a mermaid or a naked angel. Boyfriend and I decided we'd go for a run early and get a good pic of it!
Well my "running" is more run a song walk a song so I sent him a head especially since I have been the elliptical queen the past few months. During the next worst hour of the entire trip, I missed the bright orange mailbox, a city worker stopped working and offered me a sip of water out of the cooler on the side of his truck and boyfriend and I both discovered we cannot run (even though he ran double my distance and worked in sprints) and set a goal to start to run and run a race (well I want to run a race).
Tomorrow marks day one of running and y'all I am nervous. First off I didn't play sports (more of my being so tall the coaches made me come to tryouts and placed me on the team) but my love was dance so these 5'11 muscles are lean-ish and don't like running. Unless there is cake. Then they run like a tracker jacker is behind me!
And the is the running attire. The norts ride up so compression shorts are needed and shorts mean you have to be sure your legs are shaved. Which no girl likes to do. Then what about up top what if it is cool? You must layer but my apt complex is not my bedroom I can't just throw my clothes around when I take them off. Any tips on that?
And liquids... I love having my water bottle handy when I am on the elliptical.
Now Mr. Bentley he is gonna be so excited. He is the reason I will get up and do this. Get energy out of him. He loves to run.
So y'all wish me well! Couch to 5k here we come!
Oh and by the way the mailbox was a mermaid. Makes more sense then the angel. And we pulled over and looked one night.
Thanks for listening!
